photo of Alan Rosen at work Furniture maker Alan Rosen has been working with wood since 1971. He considers himself one of the fortunate people who has found work which he truly enjoys. Alan studied in Berkshire, Massachusetts with Al Engels and under George Kaplan in New York City, apprenticing to both in antique and early American furniture.

The designing and engineering of dining tables, chairs, and buffets gives Alan the challenge he enjoys the most. He enjoys building his own designs but also enjoys creating a custom, personalized piece of furniture which can only come about after working closely with someone. Alan uses traditional joinery throughout. His special hand rubbed finish is composed of a special mixture of polyurethane and oil that he mixes himself. When Alan is not in his shop creating works of art you can find him out on the ski slopes with his family.
